A dual plate check valve, also known as a double-door check valve, consists of two spring-loaded plates mounted on a central hinge pin. When the fluid flows in the forward direction, the plates open under pressure to allow passage. Once flow decreases or reverses, the torsion springs close the plates instantly against the seat, preventing backflow and water hammer.
