Understanding Wafer Butterfly Valve:
A wafer butterfly valve is a type of valve designed to regulate the flow of fluids through a pipe by using a disc that rotates on a central axis. Unlike other types of butterfly valves, these valves are designed to fit between two flanges using bolts or studs, making them compact and lightweight. This type of valve is ideal for applications where space is limited and quick, efficient flow control is necessary, such as in water treatment, HVAC systems, and various industrial processes.

The valve’s tiny size and functionality are facilitated by a number of essential design elements. The primary body of the valve is intended to fit tightly between two pipe flanges and is frequently constructed of materials like cast iron, stainless steel. The disk, which is the main part, is often constructed of stainless steel or another sturdy material. The shaft (or stem) through which this disc is mounted goes through the middle of the valve body. The disc can rotate because the shaft is attached to a handle or actuator that is located outside the valve body.

Working Principle:
The working principle of a wafer butterfly valve revolves around the rotation of the disc to control fluid flow. When the actuator or handle is turned, the shaft rotates the disc. In the fully open position, the disc is parallel to the flow of fluid, allowing fluid to pass with minimal resistance. To close the valve, the disc is rotated until it is perpendicular to the flow of fluid, creating a barrier that stops the flow. The tight seal between the disc and the valve body, provided by the elastomeric seats, prevents leakage. The design allows for quick and easy operation, often requiring only a quarter turn (90 degrees) to move from fully open to fully closed.
